God has set a boundary on human sexuality and that boundary is marriage. Our culture mocks at this as antiquated and puritanical. Sex is a fire and marriage is the fireplace in which God has decreed it should burn. When that fire goes beyond the protection of the fireplace it brings devastation and destruction.
Instead of trusting completely in God’s sovereign protection, we trust in substitutes. Whenever you look to something as the source of meeting your need that has not been authorized by God, you have created and idol.
The Ten Commandments are law. Our postmodern age of unlimited personal freedom and unbridled sensuality rejects such a notion. Sinners do not want to hear God’s law. Even in the church there is much confusion about them. Are we obligated to obey the Ten Commandments since we are under grace?
